A commune 164
metres above sea level, Bosnasco takes its name from "boso"
the term which in the old Ligurian dialect of the area means "blackcurrant".
It has ancient historical origins and the first documents that refer
to the small group of dwellings date back to 1184. Between the Medieval
and modern eras, after having been under the city of Pavia for a long
time it became part of the Beccaria feudal system.
It lies between the hamlets of Sparano, whose name appears as Spairano
in the diplomatic code of Bobbio in the 9th-10th centuries, and Cardazzo,
which means "at the foot of the mountain". |
